The stiffness of a chiral STF made of SiO has been measured and shown to behave as a highly linear spring (Brett et al. 1999). There is at least one theoretical investigation, which models the elastostatic response of chiral STFs (Lakhtakia 2002). Several works on acoustic wave propagation also exist (Lakhtkia 1995, 1996, 2000, 2003; Oldano et al. 2003). There are parallels between optical and acoustic phenomena, and Bragg phenomena similar to those observed in optics are also predicted for vibrational waves.

Could it be that they're just born smarter or quicker than the rest of us? Or are there some secrets that they might know that we don't?
