Usually there is a long process needed for FDA approval of any new drug or new medical devices. However, the patch has some advantages in that it is a minimally invasive patch because you do not need to implant it and you do not need to have to collect blood. Typically these kinds of devices are fast-tracked through FDA approval. Once the devices have been fully tested using animals, and then after performing clinical trials on human subjects, you can apply for FDA approval. It will take about 2 years more for testing on humans. And then the fast track will take about 1 to 2 years for FDA approval.
