Nano Nano Nano

In this chapter as well as in the others, we will be using terms, such as nanostructures, nanodevices, nanoparticles, nanoscale, nano-medicine, nanowires, nanotubes, nanoengineering, and so forth. The prefix, "nano," is used to indicate a tool, an enterprise, a particle, a phenomenon, a project, or a manufactured item operating on or concerned with a scale at one billionth of a meter.

If you have time, you may want to watch the video, What is Nanotechnology? Professor Wendy Crone narrates the video. http://www.sciencedaily.com/videos/2006-06-11/

Did you know?

Nano is derived from the Greek word meaning "dwarf."
