Nanotech Creations as Artistic Works

It may seem a bit unusual to think of nanotech creations as artistic works. After all, an entire gallery of nanotech creations could easily fit on the head of a pin and be crushed by a housefly. This makes it difficult to imagine any effective way of presenting nanotechnology as art in a conventional sense. There are, however, a number of artists who create conventionally sized representations of nanotech structures. These artists use a variety of techniques in approaching this task. Some produce paintings or sculptures based purely on their mental conceptions of nanotechnology. In some cases, these paintings are abstract, in the sense that they do not attempt in any way to reproduce how the nanotech structures actually look, but instead attempt to convey the mental and emotional impressions that the artist has of nanotechnology.
