SnO2 Thick Films via Sol Gel

The SnO2 thick films via sol-gel method begins with the preparation of nanosized SnO2 powder [27, 28]. The sol prepared via various methods, described above, is suitable for nanosized SnO2 powder preparation. The sol is converted to nanosized powder by heating it at higher temperature (150-200 ° C) to remove the solvent and water completely. Amorphous nanosized SnO2 powder obtained in this way is then mixed with water and suitable binder such as polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polymer. The resulting paste is then applied on a suitable substrate (typically Al2O3) to form a thick film of nanosized SnO2 suitable for gas sensing.
